Following on from our news earlier in the week that Norwegian will be expanding their network of long haul flights from Copenhagen, the airline has confirmed that their next permanent base will be Paris Orly airport.
New Norwegian Flights to Expand Paris Orly Airport's Long Haul Network
This will be a big win for Paris Orly airport, as currently very few long haul flights depart from the airport due to noise regulations. However, Norwegian‘s long haul fleet consists primarily of Boeing 787 Dreamliners which produce much less exterior noise than other long haul aircraft. Norwegian currently operate a number of low cost long haul flights to America and Asia. Norwegian will be facing stiff competition in Paris, as both XL Airways and Transavia operate regular low cost long haul flights from Charles de Gaulle.
There has previously been speculation that the airline would be looking to set up a permanent base in Spain next, with Barcelona and Madrid both being strong contenders. Norwegian's move into Paris Orly Airport shows the airline's confidence in its long haul offering. Norwegian have yet to announce which routes will be launching from Paris Orly, but an announcement will likely be made within the near future.
We will keep you updated once details of Norwegian‘s planned flights from Paris Orly are announced.
