Uber announced a partnership with the streaming music service, Spotify, today. The new initiative lets Uber customers choose their own music for their journey with Uber.
Become Your Own DJ With Uber & Spotify
The new partnership is a great initiative for those tired of listening to the usual radio stations when taking a cab and puts the control in the hands of the passengers. I don't know about you, but I've been subjected to all kinds of radio that I would not choose to listen to in a million years while taking a cab. Why listen to the cricket results when you can have your own playlist?
The new feature launched today in 10 cities across the world, including London, Los Angeles and New York. The full list of cities can be found on the Uber blog.
There are a couple of points to note before you get too excited about your sing-a-long to Spice Girls' Wannabe on your next trip with Uber:
- Your driver will need to have opted in to the service. It seems that not all drivers are prepared for your amazing singing voice just yet.
- You will need a Spotify Premium subscription. If you follow the link to the blog above, you can get a discount code for a week's worth of free music with Spotify.
The system is pretty simple to use. All you have to do is connect your Spotify account with the Uber app and select the music you wish to listen to. Once your driver starts the ride, your music will automatically play through the car's audio system.
Overall, I think this is a nice collaboration between two leading technology brands and shows that there is still space to innovate within the travel sector.
Don't forget you can still claim your free £10 Uber Promo Code. Follow the link for more details on how to claim your free credit.
